In the same way that Autechre’s abstract electronica for me sort of illustrate the Transfiguration, so the shoe-gazing glory of My Bloody Valentine (the band), Ride’s ‘Drive Blind’ and others sort of illustrate (in a way that music can and images can’t) the overload and distortion that I imagine John overcome by during his vision. An un-nameable overwhelming that all to often (in my humble opinion) is lacking when we think about and experience faith.
