A Prussian Birthday and a Christmas Left-over

Birthday CardI knew all those years of assembling military miniatures would come in useful one day! Never anticipated that it would be this way, mind. For those who are familiar with the hobby, this as a birthday card will make perfect sense. For those who aren’t, take my word for it. It does.
And also (I had meant to post this before we went away over Christmas) our Christmas card for this year. I wanted to put a sense of stillness and anticipation into it, and clouds in a sky at night (complete with Guiding Star) seemed an appropriate image. So with that, I hope people have had a lovely Christmas - and will have a great 2008!

Save changes?

St James Ethics Center - Save changes?Written in the wake of the Australian general election, Simon Longstaff’s article opening the December issue of Living Ethics suggests that “it is possible for members of a new parliament to set [disappointments of the past] aside and make a new beginning”. The illustration suggests both the opportunity that is there, and where the responsibilty to take it lies - with reference to the good old pop-up dialogue box. Putting on the finising touches my software crashed twice without ’saving changes’ - I would suspect it my PC’s poor attempt at irony if I didn’t know better.

Anatomically Incorrect

Triceratops“It’s not Durer’s rhinoceros,” I thought to myself, “but still quite a nice triceratops .” Then I stared at it for a bit. I wondered how it would have balanced itself with rather a large head on one end of it’s body, and then I slowly remembered that they have tails. Or had tails. Whichever, I like this as a quick doodle.

St James Christmas card

St James Ethics Center - Christmas Card 07With this year’s Christmas card the Ethics Centre wanted to express the wish that this festive season we may find or receive something that would (for want of a better phrasing) ‘fill the gap inside’ - rather than add to the stuff we surround ourselves with.
