I did this doodle last night - a quick ballpoint sketch on the back of some notes, and coloured it in before starting today’s work.

The most recent illustration for St James’ newsletter (click here) sees a return to the simple pleasure that is crosshatching, served on the back of a page of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (served, that is - not drawn). Appearing alongside an article that asks whether using legally sound loopholes to pay less tax is ethical is an illustration of Alice discovering that the Cheshire Cat is not much of a socialist. While the recent St James illustrations have all been full colour, it felt that to base this one on John Tenniel’s original illustrations and then execute it in full colour would just be wrong. Very enjoyable too doing some freeform typograpy again.
