A sketch jotted down on the Easter weekend - biro-on-paper and about an hour and a half of painting. An enjoyable exercise as well as something to take away from a lovely weekend. I love the look and feel of the spaces behind parades of shops; areas built up without any sense of aesthetics. Inanimate objects left to their own devices. The back of a nice Chinese in Kingsbridge, Devon.

“It’s not Durer’s rhinoceros,” I thought to myself, “but still quite a nice triceratops .” Then I stared at it for a bit. I wondered how it would have balanced itself with rather a large head on one end of it’s body, and then I slowly remembered that they have tails. Or had tails. Whichever, I like this as a quick doodle.

Pretty much what it says on the tin - I’m not sure whether it quite conveys the existential despair involved though.
I’ve just finished one Christmas card and a second is nearly done, however neither will see the honour of being posted here until they are in postbags. I’ll have a dig around and find some other stuff to show in the meantime.

I did this doodle last night - a quick ballpoint sketch on the back of some notes, and coloured it in before starting today’s work.
